What do our customers think
As a Swiss specialist in trenchless technologies, we are confronted with a variety of complex and extreme geological conditions. To successfully master these challenges, we have relied on our wide range of Geonex machines for many years."
In Spain, due to our complex geology, the introduction of Geonex has filled a gap that no other trenchless technology could cover. Projects once considered unfeasible have been reactivated. Not since the arrival of HDD has the trenchless industry seen such a breakthrough — Geonex has changed the game."
Many of our projects wouldn’t have been possible without Riggtech’s long experience and Geonex’s strong partnership. Together, we keep developing new technologies and solutions to meet customer needs. Geonex is a key part of our growth journey, and we’re grateful for their daily support.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How does Geonex compare to HDD and auger boring in hard ground?
Geonex Horizontal Hammer Boring is specifically designed to succeed where traditional HDD and auger boring often fail — in hard rock, cobble, and mixed soils. While HDD typically requires pilot holes and fluid management, our method uses a percussive hammer inside the casing to advance directly through tough ground without pre-drilling.
Compared to auger boring, Geonex offers better control, less soil displacement, and greater efficiency in challenging conditions. It’s a powerful solution for urban environments and infrastructure projects where precision and minimal disruption matter.

How does Geonex technology differ from traditional trenchless methods?
Geonex Horizontal Hammer Boring (HHB) rigs stand out with features that maximize precision, efficiency, and usability in difficult conditions:
- Independent jack-leg and side-shift orientation allow for accurate setup even on uneven surfaces, ensuring precise casing alignment from the start.
- Continuous feeding with rack & pinion technology eliminates stops and starts, increasing speed and consistency during drilling.
- Sophisticated remote controls provide real-time control over drilling parameters, enabling precise adjustments from a distance.
- Adaptive frame length means the rig can be shortened or extended depending on space constraints—ideal for tight urban sites or long bores.
These innovations help Geonex rigs perform where conventional auger boring or HDD struggle—especially in mixed ground and hard rock conditions.

Can Geonex rigs be shipped and serviced in the U.S.?
Yes — all Geonex systems are available for shipping to North America, and we offer technical onboarding, operator training, and spare part support for U.S. customers. Our rigs are container-friendly and field-proven under rugged conditions worldwide.
We are actively growing our service network in the U.S. and can support your team both remotely and on-site. Whether you’re a contractor, utility company, or infrastructure developer, we’ll ensure your operations run smoothly with local-level support.

Who uses Geonex in the U.S. – and for what kind of projects?
Geonex systems are trusted by experienced U.S. contractors like Dunigan Brothers Inc. in Michigan and The Tunneling Company (TTC) in British Columbia (Transmountain Pipeline project). These teams turned to Horizontal Hammer Boring after traditional auger boring, microtunneling, or HDD methods had failed due to difficult cobble, soft ground, or environmental restrictions.
In one case, TTC successfully installed over 1,200 meters across 16+ crossings on the Transmountain Pipeline project using Geonex’s HZR1200 rig. In Michigan, Dunigan Brothers used the system to complete a 140 ft casing bore under Amtrak rail lines — through wet soil and 24” cobbles — in just four days.
These are just two of over 100+ projects across North America where Geonex Horizontal Hammer Boring has provided a reliable trenchless alternative when conditions were too tough for conventional methods. Whether crossing railroads, creeks, or urban roads, contractors choose Geonex to finish the job faster and more reliably.
